About the service

Kommunefangst is a mobile app for tracking visits to Norwegian municipalities and peaks. The app is free, with optional in-app purchases.

Account

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure. One account per person. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.

Liability

The service is provided "as is". Map and kommune data may contain errors, and peak claims are user-reported — not an authoritative source.

Peaks shown in the app are listed for informational purposes only. Accessibility, difficulty, and suitability vary — not every peak is right for every hiker, and conditions change from day to day. Always consult independent sources, local recommendations, and current conditions before setting out.

Treat the app as a supplement, not your only navigation tool. Always pack a paper map and compass, and plan your trip so it doesn't depend on your phone working. Active GPS drains the battery quickly — bring a power bank on longer outings. You use the app at your own risk.

To the extent permitted by Norwegian law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Aggregate liability is capped at the amount you have paid in the app during the previous twelve months.

User content

Content you upload — photos, peak visits, display names — remains yours. By uploading it you grant Kommunefangst a limited right to store and display it within the app, including on leaderboards and public profiles. You must have the rights to anything you upload. We may remove content that violates the law or these terms.

Acceptable use

You must not scrape or otherwise collect data from the app or its users, automate kommune or peak claims, or attempt to manipulate the leaderboard.

You must not publish offensive, violent, discriminatory, or sexually explicit content, or harass others through display names, photos, or any other user content.

Cheating by manipulating your location or visit dates is not tolerated. The consequence is that your account may be deactivated.

Purchases

In-app purchases (supporter, remove ads) are processed by Apple and Google. Refunds follow their policies. Supporter status is non-transferable between accounts.

Location data

Visit verification uses GPS. Details about data processing are in the privacy policy.

Third-party services

The app uses Firebase (Google), Mapbox, and Kartverket map tiles. Their terms apply to the parts they provide.

Changes

We may update these terms and modify or discontinue the service without prior notice. Material changes to the terms may prompt re-acceptance in the app. The current version is always at kommunefangst.no/en/terms.

Termination

You may delete your account at any time from the settings screen. We may close accounts that materially breach these terms.

Communication

We may contact you by email about important events related to your account, such as security notices, changes to these terms, or other significant matters concerning the service.
